As I understand it, they'll be charging for beach access too. So wadefishing there won't be free either

This sounded so good I have a freshly made batch soaking on the counter now to try. Have to see how they turn out

Re: Great evening at Piney Z

Went out again this evening from 1730 to 2000ish with a buddy and the johnboat. Bite picked up a bit later when we got some cloud cover. Each of us boated around 4 fish and had a few throw the hook. My best fish was probably a little over 4lb and between us the rest were in the 2-3lb range and one d...

Re: overturned boat

Good on you for helping them.

Getting back into a rolled kayak is a skill that takes practice, it's often beyond people that aren't in them often. Good thing to try once in a while when you're out.

Great evening at Piney Z

Got out to Piney Z about 1745 and left after two and a half hours or so, the conditions were perfect for a spinnerbait- super windy, stained water and overcast skies. The fish were going nuts hitting bait, probably could have cleaned up on topwater if I had brought any. Threw a 1/2 oz white spinnerb...

Otter Lake

Decided to give it a shot this morning, got out there around 7 and threw buzzbaits for an hour or so around the edges and cypress trees, zip. Not even a pickerel. Switched to a spinnerbait, started fishing out in the middle and got several hits, hooked up with 2 and landed one nice bass about 2lbs. ...

Re: Black bears...

They're still protected better than people here in FL despite there being boatloads of em around. A few months back there was a one month period where I spotted 11 or 12 of them in different places while out and about which is usually more than I see in an entire year. During that same time I was ou...

I attach a stainless split ring to the eye of the plug and tie to that, Top Dogs, Spooks and the like walk fine. If I didn't have a split ring I'd probably tie a loop knot instead.

Re: Knots-various

I pretty much only use 3 knots. Improved clinch, palomar and the 5 turn surgeon. 5 (or 6 if you feel like it) turn surgeon is my leader/line knot. I've tested it with multiple line/leader combos and if tied and cinched properly the main line will break before the knot does. Palomar for pretty much a...

Re: Lake Munson?

Well that's a shame, at least it will more than likely produce well within the next couple of years. I seem to remember them saying there was something like 8 solid feet of muck on the bottom in places, that's never good for a lake.

Re: endangered species FYI

Eh, wouldn't change anything but putting the kibosh on rattlesnake roundups. I'll keep shooting em if they're in my yard and leaving them alone if they aren't. I'd bet 1 out of every 2 gopher tortoise holes in the ANF has a diamondback in it instead of a tortoise :D Why would you put the kibosh on ...

Lake Munson?

I haven't fished Munson in a few years, anyone fished it in the last couple months? There used to be some monsters in there, don't know if they all died in the drawdown or not. Went down to the ramp the other day and it looked like there was some water back in there, enough to fish anyway.

Re: Lake Jackson 5-6-2012

Nice fish! My dad and I launched out of the same spot yesterday at daylight. Threw buzzbaits, had 4-5 strikes but no hookups. Switched to plugs and landed 13-14 fish up to 2.5lb in the next few hours on those shallow grass beds. Place is ate up with nice healthy looking bass right now. Surprising am...
