8/7 OAR
Saturday my wife (Lesly) a buddy of mine (Ian) and I dove the OAR reef just N of the K in 50 feet of water. The water clarity was around 35 feet once you got past the thermo clime. I brought down my spear gun in hopes of finding dinner but the other two didn’t. As we are coming upon a pile of culver...

Re: Building a homemade Bait Tank ??
You can convert an old cooler into a live well. I have seen the kits before in Bass Pro catalogs. Never used one but don't see why they wouldn't work.

Snapper Season
Just read Gov. Crist is trying to extend the Snapper season but don't know what the probability of it is. Anyone heard anything?

Re: St. Marks nearshore slam
By the way NOAA was wrong on the weather report. The 1-2 predicted were more like 3-4. Oh well we salvaged the day and had a good time.

Dolphin question
Most of the time when fishing I don't venture out much past the K although this time of year I sometimes do if the seas are calm enough. On the way out and in I always keep an eye out for floating debris. About ever other trip I run across something floating with small Dolphin underneath. These are ...

Re: Anyone have any tips on using a freeline?
Konrad, I'm sure your using a bimini twist to a "no name" knot just like your idol Mark Sosin. Mark Sosin... Are you kidding me? I rather drink wine and watch highlights from American Idol with my wife than see another one of his shows. Don't make me put up a link to Google map and pin po...

Re: Hummingbird 595c question
I have two Navionics chips for the unit but the instruction say not to put them in a computer. I will see if I can find one on the web that is compatible.

Hummingbird 595c question
Is there a way to make my GPS/Fish finder compatible with my computer either by a chip or cord? I am scared something might happen to the unit and I will lose all my number. I have close to 300 waypoints and sitting in my boat hand writing all this down would take some time. If that’s my only option...

Re: Anyone have any tips on using a freeline?
I use a 4 to 5 inch piece of braided wire tied to 3 feet of 50lb test fluorocarbon tied to 30lb braid. No swivels used. I wish I could tell you the name of the knots I use but am sorry to say I just don't remember. The braided wire is good because you can tie a leader directly to it. As far as hooks...

Re: Single fishing from a double? Doable?
I have had a 2 man Poke Boat since I was 13 years old. 36 now. It is a sit inside kayak. My dad use to paddle me around jump shooting ducks and fishing for bass out of it. I still have the same boat today and use it at least once a month if not more. Very stable but only one person can either shoot ...

Mashes Sands 5-29 & 31
Saturday: My dad called me up last Thursday to inform me that I was going to take him fishing. He said it’s been almost three weeks and he really needed to get out of the house. I thought about screwing with him but realized I was in the same position so it wasn’t a real arm twister to convince me t...

Re: The BP oil rig
So it seems inevitable that the oil is going to hit our shores. What can we do to help? Are there any local volunteer organizations being set up to deal with this disaster? If so please let me know. Looks like we are all going to have a lot of free time.

Re: The BP oil rig
[quote="MudDucker"]This is terrible. I am not a big conspiracy buff and I sure as hell don't think BP did this to themselves, but these rigs have an EXCELLENT safety record and have never had an explosion like this one. I would not be a bit surprised to learn that some left wing liberal tr...
