Well we all know there has been quite a recovery in red snapper in our area over the last 15 or so years. I wonder how much of that was due to the restrictions on recreational anglers and how much was due to the restrictions on shrimp trawls.

Re: Shimano Spinning Reels - Suggestions ?
In terms of size I like the 3000 as a great combo reel for redfish and trout duty. I have Stradics and Saros; actually prefer the Saros. It's smooth as silk and tough as nails. I don't think you could go wrong either way, but the Saros absolutely can't be beat for the money in my opinion.

Re: Losing more recreation to the government
I fish these areas quite a bit. The real impact for recreational folks is going to be during times when base security is elevated. That will effectually put a 500 ft boundary waterward from the hill around nearly the entire base from well up in East Bay, through St. Andrews Bay and on around through ...

Awesome day and a great recap, Chalk. I've done rain at 50mph - that was my first time at 65+. I'm not positive what exfoliated means but I'm pretty sure my face went through a little bit of it.
Just a little tip for you guys...and I'm sure most of you probably already know...foul weather ...

Nice, Chalk! I heard rumor you were having a pedicure this weekend and couldn't fish, so I went sniffin around.

Re: Aucilla navigation
I've seen the 'land bridge' just below Mandalay on the negative tides in the winter. Very similar to the pics mjsigns posted above. Easing down that river in the winter when the water's clear and low will tighten up muscles in interesting parts of your body. Here's a chart from Jerry's, but my ...

Thanks! Chalk said $800 is a little steep, but I should pay it if you'd also kick in some of the fishing advice he's given you through the years.

Haha! I'll remember that when you want to catch a ride down the Aucilla in the kill machine. Or, as you'd say, catch a ride on a vessel.

Re: Choctawhatchee Bay questions
How did you do? I've caught quite a few reds and trout over there (I'm a Bay County guy...occasionally run the ditch just for different scenery). I've had good luck between the docks out of Rocky Bayou back to the east towards the point. That flat usually holds some nice pods of fat mullet with reds ...
