yes, you want to cut the fish in half at the begining of the dorsal fin then carefully split the fish down and thru the tail, this is best done on a large pin fish, caution, it is far better to use the entire top half of the fish, with the complete tail, this bait cost nothing, being ...

use a cajun thunder with no or very little weight depends on deph.
no weight 4ft or less, want it to flutter like a bait fish, can get some really nice trout and reds with this set up, just pop pause pop pause pop.
