Just met some Steinhatchee friends for lunch in Tallahassee. Sounds like it will be slim pickens there, due to TOO MUCH freshwater.
Too much freshwater has upset the salinity and the scallops are just not there?? Good luck.

Re: Shark Toothing: diving off Venice Florida
What a nice family affair. Kids love digging/looking for arrow heads and those shark teeth. Really nice to see everyone sharing in a real "Activity".......... In the REAL world, versus a water park on a theme park.
Will you be working on a bucket scallops soon?

Re: going after some size
You fellas are the kind of guys I used to take with me........ going after gags. Amazing how a 12-15 lb gag in 42' will about snatch you over board, trying to get in that hole! An 18+ lb gag in 40-50' is a real tussle and often involves a little luck..... such as: the current working to your advanta...

Fellas, that sounds like "What I'm hoping to find". I've shared some advice/info with several fellas on this forum. All of that comes from 40+ yrs of learning "The DOs and DON'Ts" of boats, electronics, & fishing; both inshore and offshore. I've even shared some numbers. Havi...

Re: SAT/ EVENING
Futchcairo>>> If you can accomplish all that, bet you can "fish daylight till 11AM"!! Just getting all that stuff ready, then cleaned up, and put back up.... is a heck of a lot work in 90+ temps. We had some storm damage and I survived running a chain saw, then dragging logs, limbs, and br...

Re: south fl trip
Dittos on the flouro carbon. Have used 100 yds of flouro carbon spool to fish for mangoes and red snapper off the east coast, before the ban began in 2011??? For awhile there, you could buy a 20-60 lb 1/4 lb spool for about $15-20. Stren brand, I believe. 20-40 yrs ago, the fish were not a "wis...

GREAT POST! I'm sorry for your loss......... No, make that our loss. I too, have spent some extra time reflecting on those I've know that have paid the ultimate price. Not for money, not for recognition, but simply doing their job. A job that some simply lack the character or fortitude to carry out....

So glad to see the seeds that you are planting. I hope he will always prefer those fishing trips to video games & texting LOL! So many kids never get the chance to experience the real world. Thanks Troutinator, great post & pics.
