Thanks Weaven. I've had two different Johnson dealers tell me two different things. One says 13 and the other says 15. I was able to go and pull the prop and count the splines. It's actually 13 splines.

Boat Prop spline count

Just wondering if anyone off the top of their head could tell me how many splines a 2001 90hp Johnson OceanPro, has. My motor has the original OMC aluminum prop, 14X17. I could pull the prop off and just count the number of splines on it. Just checking.
Thanks

Spark Plug Question

I have a 2001, 90 hp Johnson OceanPro. In the top 2 cylinders there are Champion QL78YC spark plugs, and the bottom 2 have Champion QL82YC plugs. I've gone to the Champion website, but found no difference in the plug specs. I believe these are the origional plugs too. Is there any reason why there ...

There are plenty of people fishing in MS, and LA. I saw a show on TV the other day and it said there is approx. 17 million trout caught in LA a year. There is just so many bayous and estuaries they can get in. I remember growing up in Mississippi and catching 2, 150 quart ice chests full of trout ...

I live in Perry and fish out of Keaton. I have a Key Largo 172 and sometimes fish out of a 14' Lone Star. I usually fish where everyone else isn't. Don't like being himmed up between all the Georgia Boys on the flats.

I've bottom fished using both mono and braid and the bite was the same for me. I always use a mono leader, but I feel the bite better using braid and there isn't any stretch when cranking down on a big grouper. The cost of braid is my limiting factor in having it spooled on all my rigs.

I bet the bait shop was in Perry. I've asked them why they sale them there and the response I got was great. "They are for feeding aquarium fish."
They do make great Bass bait. I've used them in Mississippi in the ponds where the Bass have seen every lure in the world thrown at them. I've watched ...

WAXES AND WASHES

Just wondering what brand of wax y'all recommend. I currently use starbrite wash and their wax. It seems ok, but i wonder about the kerosene that's in the wax.

The water depth is anywhere from 3 - 7 feet. As far as a small boat, I've caught several out of my small 14' boat. It's fun to have a fish pull your boat around.

I don't want to give up my exact spot, but I'm closer in than the last channel marker going out of Keaton. I usually find them following a ray, but sometimes they are just out there swimming alone. I've caught them under a cajun thunder before, but last year and this year I've had them break on me ...

There are in 4-7 feet of water. I've caught most of them on live pin fish, but a few have hit large jigs and plastic eels. For me they have been in the same exact place each time. It's my little honey hole.

The Cobia are here

Again the Cobia haven't let me down. This time of the year, ever year, for the past 6 years, I've caught several cobia out of Keaton Beach. The local ole' timers at the marina don't believe I'm not running off shore to catch them, but the last weekend my son and I went out from Keaton at 3:00 pm and ...
