Grouper Regs?

Can anyone tell me the grouper regs that are in force now? I hate to say this, but I'm somewhat confused.

Thanks

Merry Christmas

April 10 - Grouper and First Aid

Nice to be back fishing again. Now keeping the boat in the water at Shields since we were evicted at Bayside.

Left around 10ish on Sunday. Out 22 miles SE of St. Marks safe water bouy. Two and threes going out, but the water was beautiful. Water temperature about 76 degrees. :-)

Second drop was a ...

NMEA Sharing

I want to connect the NMEA output from my main DGPS unit to 2 fish finders and my DSC radio. Does anyone have any suggestions other than trying to connect four wire together in a massive splice?

This sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I was thinking of something like a powered buss that would ...

Help with Trailer Brakes

I call upon my learned brethren and sisters to lend a hand and, hopefully, provide some sage advice on a problem I am having with my trailer brakes. (OK... it's going to get deep here, but bear with me).

I recently tried to move my trailer, and to my surprise, neither of the back wheels would turn ...

I tried a pair of TLD15s, but one of them developed a problem and I moved to TLD20s. Great reels with almost as fast a retrieve. Plus they will handle BIG fish. The 15s are a little small for big grouper.

South of Ocklocknee Bay 11/16/03

Left the dock around 0800 and headed to Bouy 24. A couple of miles south found some good looking cheese bottom near some numbers we found last year. Fished with cut LYs. First catch was a good keeper flounder. :o How he got that 8-0 hook in his mouth I'll never know. Next were numerous Key West ...

Fishbites Across the Atlantic

While traveling through Europe this summer I had a chance to go fishing off the west coast of Ireland. The local people were very nice, but they were in competition with several "package groups" where one price included airfare, lodging, and a spot of their equivalent of a head boat. The people I ...

Sabiki Rods

They were from BPS. I get weekly e-mails from them and they sometimes put merchandise on sale as "first come, first served". They have Shakespeare Pro Touch reels on them. Nothing fancy, but hey, they're just reeling up bait.

BTW guys... E-angler, BoatUS, and Cabelas all have e-mail specials that ...

BPS Sabiki Rods

If you can wait they may go on sale again. I bought 2 in last October and paid $59 each with attached reels, line, and shipping!

If you can't wait, you still won't be disappointed. They make using sabikis fun.

SW of Ocklocknee Bay 08/10/03

Decided to take the boat out after being gone all summer and took some rods out with me. Roland and I were "gentleman fishing" today.

Stopped to get some bait with the sabiki rods and then went out just west of Buoy 24. First drop with a livey produced a hit that I couldn't stop. It broke off the ...

These are large bore hollow rods with standard spinning reels. It's designed to allow the line to run inside the rod. The sabiki rig is tied to the line. When you reel the line back, the rig is pulled into the hollow rod and stored there. My rod as a small rubber cone, shaped like a trumpet horn, at ...

SW of Ocklocknee Bay 5/4/03

Out with Running Bare and BJ. Left at 1100 with a rising tide and great weather. Seas were less than 1 foot with a light breeze and extreme UV. It looked like one of those days in the new boat ads. 8)

Stopped to get some bait with the new sabiki rods. Let me tell you those rods are worth the money ...

Thought I had to to family stuff, but my daughter's softball game was cancelled and my oldest duaghter and I went for it. Trolled about 25 miles SW of Ocklocknee Bay.

Used Capt. Jay's advice to troll about 5 to 5 1/2 mpg with Stretch 30s. Boy did they go deep! Twice we hung up on some structure in ...
