A couple of weeks ago we were fishing the cut at St. George. It was slow for most all boats in the cut, then the boat next to us (bayside, near the west seawall) hung and fought something big for about 30 minutes. The boat followed it out to the gulf and finally landed about a 6 foot Black Tip Shark ...

Need GPS software suggestions
I am still learning my new GPS, Garmin GPSmap 76C and know that I need to get software for detailed charts, I believe BlueChart. What is best for the Forgotten Coast area, particularly Appalachee Bay and Appalachicola Bay areas.

Aucilla storm
My 17 year old son and I haven't been able to fish much this year. Went down to the Eco two months ago and discovered our motor wasn't getting enough water to cool it. Got that fixed and went to the Aucilla yesterday. A buddy said it was going to rain. We werent worried about getting wet and wanted ...

Poling platform help
I'm thinking about putting a poling platform on the back of my 19' Carolina Skiff. I am also looking for one of those removable casting platforms for the front. Any suggestions about who does a good job of installing, who has good prices, etc., would be appreciated.

SG,
I was out there Saturday, too. Just me and my 14 year old son. We came out of the Eco about 7 (1.5 hour after high tide), turned right and went down near the Aucilla to start the day. First cast, my son landed an 18" trout. Within a few minutes I caught a ladyfish and a small blue and let a nice ...

Steinhatchee info needed
Going to Steinhatchee Mon to Wed. Never fished there before. I plan to fish inshore and, if it is really calm, may go a little offshore. How far out is Steinhatchee Reef? I would appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks.

TF,
My son and I went Sunday, just to fish, not for the tournament. It was low and slow. No one seemed to be catching anything and few were able to make it past the mouth. We ended up going over to the Aucilla (by land). We snatched mullet from the dock at the lower ramp. Much more action than trout ...

Tom, I am familiar with that info but the map is not very precise for the area and it does not show recent history. For example, the NOAA sondes and buoys record all data hourly and their charts show the trends for the previous 5 days. E.g. the Pensacola buoy (http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page ...

Water temps
I have been looking for a site that tracks water temps. The Keaton Beach sonde ( http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.phtml?$station=ktnf1) is a great site for all other weather data, but it does not record water temp because it is not a buoy. The Pensacola sonde tracks water temp, but it is too ...

When I haven't used my boat for several weeks, my steering freezes. I have hydraulic steering, with side mounted linkage to the outboard. The first time I noticed it, I had stored the motor turned all the way to one side so the linkage rod was extended all the way out of the cable. This time I left ...
