Steinhatchee offshore. Wednesday, 4-20 05 (grouper)

The goal for the day was cobia. Taking Bernie Fowlers 21 foot Key Largo, One Fish , we headed to Steinhatchee and were on the water by 6:30 a.m. On the way out we stopped to catch bait on a small spot of hard bottom in 24 feet. In about 20 minutes we filled the live well with really nice hand sized ...

Glad you had a great day on the water. Sounds like you’ve got the trolling figured out. How many lines in the water did you manage at one time? Your observation on speed is an interesting one Nauti. Thanks for being nice enough to note it.

Captain Jay, I like your reports! Not just a report stating I caught some fish, but really a pretty complete report about your day, what worked, statements concerning water quality & temperatures, and pictures to add to the report. Thanks. I bet your right about “2 more guys hooked on grouper ...

Thanks for thinking of me & this post Yardarm. I do own a Henry 22 cal lever action and it's a nice gun so I think I'll pass on this one. If you do run across a 22 magnum though let me know.

Adding Picture icon to posts that attach pictures?

People often like a picture with a post (or thread) because a picture says a thousand words in addition to the text message. Would it be a good idea to have a picture icon go with a thread that uses pictures? I know of a few forums that I follow, that I will key in on threads that identify pictures ...

qoutrage, put em on ice first. Remember to wash off the ink on the fiberglass too. Within 20-25 minutes it’ll leave a slight black stain. Along with lizardfish and remora, never throw back an octopus for grouper fishing.

Cedar Key sheepshead & offshore report w/pics. Sat, Mar

Tom, it's been a while since I've posted here but I'll make the effort to hangout more frequently. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The plan for the day was to fish in the GOFC Sheepshead Shootout, held in part out of Cedar Key, and later go further offshore to catch a grouper bite aboard the Bare Necessities. F...

Steinhatchee offshore. 15 Mar 03

On Saturday March 15th, I fished in the Steinhatchee Saltwater Tournament with Bernie Fowler. Our goal was to focus on large grouper and our strategy was to initially troll for a while and then bottom fish. Outfitted with larger gear and heavier tests (80 and 100 lb test main lines) than usual we we...

Steinhatchee offshore. Friday, February 28 2003

Fishing with Bernie Fowler and Sanford Boye of Gainesville the plan for the day was to invite home some Steinhatchee grouper. Leaving Gainesville at 5:20 a.m. the day had an ominous start with lightening, thunder, and rain. While fueling the boat in Chiefland we watched in amazement as two women, on...
