Re: 1/2 Day Work 1-14-13
Nice looking fish. Is that a river hawk? I used to own a b-52, but since downgraded to the 13' duck boat with a little surface drive. Sometimes I wish I still had the b-52 and 10 horse johnson to fish some of the rivers with.

Re: Lake Miccossukee
Be careful backing your boat in. With the lake still draining, the water level has dropped pretty good. Your trailer pretty much has to be backed off the ramp, and it is a decent drop.

Re: St. marks scallops
It is still dark tinted like coffee. It actually reminded me exactly what the ochlocknee looked like in a narrow section behind my buddies house. However, despite the dark color it was surprisingly fairly clear. I could see the bottom in 4 1/2-5 ft. of water from the surface. Most of the time I just ...

St. marks scallops
Didn't fare too well in the fishing department today, but there were more scallops than I felt like cleaning. Place was packed with boats as well. Still on the smaller side, but plenty there!

Re: Sounder Problems
Had the same problem as you, Garmin said the same thing. Ended up installing an additional cheap fish finder to use as depth finder.

Re: 13' Gheenoe Rebuild
If you don't want to drill into the seat, they make a clamp that you mount your seat to and then clamp to the bench. I bought one, but haven't put it on yet. I'm not sure how stable they are, but I wanted my seat to be removable for duck season.

Re: 13' Gheenoe Rebuild
Looks like it is coming along well. I got my front deck cut out today, I am just putting in a low front deck to mount a cooler. I like your idea with the back bench though, I may have to keep that in mind. If you have any empty pockets you are fiberglassing over, I kept my foam from the front beach ...

Re: 13' Gheenoe Rebuild
What are you going to make the decks out of? Are you just using plywood? I thought about trying to use a composite that is lighter, but the price difference just doesn't justify the weight difference. I ran mine yesterday with my 10 horse and I need some extra weight in the front anyways.

Re: 13' Gheenoe Rebuild
They are fun boats to work on. I am in the process of remodeling a river hawk 13' duck boat. My boat came factory with the center box removed, and I removed the front bench. Now I am about to put in a front deck and mount a cooler.
woody wax
Has anyone tried using woody wax non skid protectant on their boat? It is suppose to really help in the cleaning process of the non skid after applied. It is expensive, but sounds like you don't have to use much, but you do have to reapply every few months.

Re: Assistance needed
Yes, the st. marks channel is clearly marked. If you decide to go east there are some rocks, but they are a little further down. If you go west from the channel, there isn't much to hit except a sandbar and oyster bars that are close in. We fish out of the fish camp and it's a great place. Nothing ...

Re: Inshore reel
Thanks for all the suggestions. Sounds like quantum is worth looking in to. I agree the shimano line is great, just thought I might try something different. I have been using a penn slammer, but I have read that some of the newer penn stuff isn't as well made. I'll definitely go hold a few quantums ...

Inshore reel
Anybody have any suggestions on a good inshore reel? I am debating between the penn conquer and the smallest quantum cabo. I have used the shimano's and my dad has many, but I just want something different. I don't mind spending up to 200 or so, if the reel is worth it. I also looked into the Fin ...
