Re: Bass Pro Shops Fly Tying Class
I am trying out a new time to see if it provides a greater flexibility for people who want to learn. If this day and time work for most people, then it will be a set day and time every month. Meanwhile, stay tuned and I hope to see you in the Fly Shop and at the class. Thanks for everyone's ...

SGI- Memorial Day weekend
What a weekend. Great weather all weekend, calm seas with a SSW breeze! Even Monday turned out great. Caught trout for the dinner party on Sat. Caught more on Sunday. Had a pompano skip right at the boat, but no hookup. The bay was very colored which reduced our normal fishing catch. Ended up ...

Shell Point Ramp update needed
Anyone use the ramp in the past two weeks? I heard that the collection box was down, but the marina has been sold and new owners(?) soon. I want to get my boat in the water this weekend and this is my ramp of choice to get to my main spots.

Well helped get my friend's boat in the water for the season. Went to East end and caught one spanish right off the bat. Looked for pompano to no avail. Moved around and started catching trout on a variety of baits. Lost one of those holographic rubbery suspending minnows (tornado lure) to a small ...

Shell Point Ramp
Well now that the fishing season is starting to get into gear- what is the status of the Shell Point Ramp? Last fall/winter it was open on weekends and $$ were being collected. My local resident friends have not been over to the marina area, so any information would be appreciated.

Dredging St. Marks- FINAL and LAST Update
Well I promised that when I found out more information that I would let everyone know. In reviewing the Congressional Budget, there is no language or $$$ to allow or direct the COE to dredge the St. Marks. There is however, money for dredging areas to the west that were impacted by the hurricanes ...

Dredging
A) it is not a rumor- I work with both the COE and DEP on these issues for my day job. Here is the link to their dredging schedule- it is part of the ACF/GIWW and other coastal projects on page two: http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/op/nav/Dredgesch/dresch04-Nov-04.pdf

St. George 11/13
Where were the wind and waves? Went wade fishing in the afternoon at the park since we thought that the wind and seas would be to rough for the flats boat. After about 30 minutes all that we had was a gentle breeze out of the NNE and smooth conditions. With the overcast afternoon it could not have ...

St. Marks Channel Maintenance!!!
Just found out today that the St. Marks River Channel is scheduled for dredging in the next month. I do not know how far up the channel they are planning to go. But since this is the first time that I can remember them dredging, it may be some distance. Also watch out for shallower depths west of ...

fly fishing
If you are learning how to fly fish I highly recommend asking someone to help teach you. It took a long time to correct 35 years of bad habits when I finally did take an "improvement class". Ask Mike at the Flyshop Tallahassee when the next class will be taught or call Jim Penrod. Jim is a certified ...

solar battery rechargers
It has been a long time since my last post. I've been taking the family out more than I have been fishing. But here is my question- what is anyone's experience with the solar battery rechargers? I was thinking of getting one of the panels and keeping it hooked up during the colder months. I thought ...

Lake Hall 6/18
Well I decided to try Terrier's idea and try Lake Hall. After dropping the daughter off at school, I got to the lake arond 8:45 and strung up the fly rod. Headed around the corner and tossed a black dragonfly nymph around the pads. Got some good sized bluegills. Went to the other side of the lake ...

Well decided I needed a mental health day from work and needed to get more hours on the new engine. Took a friend, who also needed a mental health day, and went exploring. Left the Fort around 9:30 and went out on a flat calm morning. Saw a manatee in the main channel about 1/2 mile from the Fort ...
