Re: gettin skinny any suggestions?
buy you a kayak and put it in your key west. Park the key west in an area you want to fish and splash the kayak.
or sell the key west and buy you a Carolina skiff or a high tech poling skiff.
or build you one of these http://bateau.com/proddetail.php?prod=XF20

Re: New To Grouper Fishing
I usually take a 165 degree heading from the bird rack and run to 30' to start. right now it seems the fish are in shallower. Waculla reef, dog ballard and all kinds of rock bottom in between are holding fish. between oar 2k, buoy 24 and the shoals there is lots of good bottom. south of 24 too. a go...

Re: Better to spend money on rod or reel?
Depends on what you are fishing for. bonefish, marlin, tarpon you might find the reel more important. around here fishing for reds and trout the reel is just to store the line more than anything else. Get you any large arbor reel designed for salt water use. I think the large arbor battenkill is pre...

Re: CMC Jackplate
If you put all the relays and connections under your engine cowling they will be much better protected. I have a CMC jackplate on two different boats. When I moved the connections all my problems were solved.

Re: Coastal Restaurant or Forgotten Coast?
I would call it more of a waterfront bar. When I have been there it was around lunch and it didn't have a rowdy crowd. Don't know what it is like in the evenings. One thing is fun the boat ramp is right there. You can watch the boat ramp follies. I think the ramp might be under construction now thou...

Re: Coastal Restaurant or Forgotten Coast?
Coastal is a favorite of mine. Of course I love good fried seafood.
Hook Wreck Henry's is right around the corner if you want waterfront atmosphere.
Good smoked fish dip
