Re: The Preacher scores
Looks like the deep hole above the landing at Aucilla to me. Me and the Dixie Reble were there Tuesday Jan 4th. Must have been a hotpink mirrorlure mirrorlure used.....heard they were biting them....after we we there. We caught not trout....but did catch 40 something redfish below the landing. Kept ...

Late Announcment--Aucilla 10Dec10
Arrived about 11 oclock--had to launch in the hole--but we made it. Started fishing right below the landing--right below the rocks.....no luck. Went on down below the island in the big hole. I have never caught a redfish in this hole... in over 40 years of fishing the Aucilla....but I did this time ...

Re: God bless PA & our GREATEST generation
PA...my congratulations as you were one of the greatest generations and I congratulate you for that. I'm retired Air Force but I got in just as the Korean War was ending....and I stayed. Put my time in Nam though.

Re: Lake Jackson Monsters
I took a friend to Lake Jackson to "show him how to bassfish" back when I was a youth (76 now)
We fished like Dixie Rebel outlined...with lake caught shiners....big cane poles...and 100 lb. test lines....it was July...hot as blazes. About dinner time I had enough fishing on one side of the boat and ...

Re: JR's Aucilla River Store...
I'll stop at his store more and get something. He is a legend there and we ought to support him more. The dog he used to have was truly legendary....and smart too.

Re: BEWARE DANGEROUS GEESE ST MARKS RIVER!!!!
Do you remember the post I reported a couple of years ago where a pelican at the mouth of Aucilla River, right in front of the tripod, attacked me, and bit me on the arm. Liked to scared me to death. Some birds can be dangerous. This goose is one....my pelican was another.

Well, Steinhatchee was a complete bust after 4 years of abscence. We went down there yesterday and fished from the outermost island to about 1 mile above the bridge...used all colors of mirrorlures...shrimp under corks..fished shallow...fished deep and all 2 of us caught was a few oyster shells ...

Re: Charleston, SC, 12/28-29
I lived in Charleston the last 4 years I was in the Air Force. It is indeed a good town. Best assignment I ever had. Fishing is great too. I learned to striper fish there.

Re: fish for supper
I'm having left over speckled pearch and speckled catfish for dinner today. When it's poor conditions to go saltwater fishing....fresh water takes over....and it's speckled perch time. They sure are good too.

Re: AUG 1 New Rules
This new rule for license is for Florida residents only. They have been getting by with no license requirement till now. If they fished from a pier or shore or a bridge (Florida people only) they did not have to have a saltwater license. Now they do. All out-of-staters had to have a saltwater ...

Re: Steering Lube
What TinCan said is true. The tilt tube is 99% of trouble if the steering cable won't steer. It's rusted and you can clean it.... and lube it with the right greese but it'll freeze up again.
Replacing it with a stainless one is the only permanent solution. I think.

Spring Warrior Jan 23, 2009
Some friends of mine went to Spring Warrior today....fished about 5 hours...caught 3 just legal size trout. Last time they went the 2 of them got their limit there. This was about 2 weeks ago. Coming home, in Perry, he got a speeding ticket for doing 45 mph in a 35 mph zone....costing him $176.00.
