Re: Wanted stainless steel prop

I switched to a stainless steel prop a few years ago and it has worked great - better speed and handling - and so far no problems with bars or rocks.

Re: Advice for wade fishing St Marks

Try the end of the rock jetty, the natural channel runs right past the west end.

Re: Do you actually use your VHF?

I usually keep mine off but Wevans makes a great point, in the future will keep it on. It 'listens' good but I have never been real sure how far my handheld unit can broadcast.

St. George Island

Lots of bait fish in the bay. Caught some decent sharks in East Past on Dog Island side, other than that a couple of Ladyfish, some Cats and one 17.5 inch Red.

Re: More booms

This weekend we saw a double row of booms along the backside of SGI screening off the bay at the state park boat ramp, more down by Marsh Island, and some preliminary layout for booms across East Pass. When we looked up close a couple of commercial fishing boats came to tell us we should not jump ov...

Re: plainclothes

For the record I support the Florida Marine Patrol. It would be chaos out there without them. But you need to be ready for anything when a strange boat approaches.

Re: What is Kevin's Reputation

Kevin's is an excellent sporting good store. Wish they would relocate to the central or south part of town, traffic up there is a cluster and parking the truck can be tight.

plainclothes

Apparently the FMP has learned from the fish and gone to camouflage. "In Wakulla County, Officers Blake Hoelscher and Ryan Knutson were working plainclothes patrol offshore of St. Marks when they encountered a boat that had been bottom fishing. The officers conducted a vessel stop and fisheries...

Re: The BP oil rig

I am wondering if it is feasible to put up a series of oil barriers from Ochlocknee Bay to the Aucilla? Is there any kind of local preparation for that if it becomes necessary? It looks like the oil might stay pushed north and northwest for a few days so there is some time to organize. http://magics...

Re: The BP oil rig

What a nightmare scenario. If a large volume of that oil is swept onto the big bend shoreline we are screwed. It could take years for the marsh, sea grass, fish and birds to recover, the dependent local economy maybe never. Meanwhile this is a huge financial hit on BP and the whole oil production in...

Re: Gather round Boys and Girls... FUEL GAUGE QUESTION

Hey SS-342. I may be off course on this but does your handle refer to the USS Chopper? That is the sub that accidentally went full dive off of Cuba to under 1,000 feet and somehow survived. My ol' Navy Dad used to talk about it, among others he spent time on SS-320, the Bergall.
