Hey RC, Yep, a number of folks have done just that -installed a trolling motor on their paddle yaks. Its weight is counterbalanced by the weight of the battery on the opposite side. Easier to do on some yaks than others, of course. Here is a link on one way to go about it. http://www.kayakfishingstu...

Purchasing a Used Kayak

In case anyone is interested, our largest local kayak dealer, the Wilderness Way, will be turning over their rental fleet with the 2007 models, and will be selling off their used yaks. They are authorized dealers for Perception, Prijon, Necky, Hobie, Ocean Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Dagger and Curre...

Comes the Revolution-First Observations and Pics

Our local dealer, the Wilderness Way, here in Tallahassee, just got in their new shipment of 32 Hobie yaks. Just in time as it turned out, since they had been out of Mirage Drive models for about two weeks now. Included in the shipment were the two that I was most interested in: the brand new Revolu...

Hey Aucilla, Kind of a discouraging, albeit honest, report--thanks for sharing it. Don't know about those "mysterious grapefruit size living globs all over the bottom." Cannonball jellyfish would fit that description, but I'm assuming you probably know what those suckers look/feel like. Mi...

Spring Creek Labor Day Weekend 9/3/06

Well, I had hoped to be in the 10,000 Islands area this weekend for the opening of the snook season (and to see the grandkids in Naples!), but that had to be postponed. Didn't make the local 9/2 yak extravaganza either, but not to be outdone, I decided to try the headwaters of Spring Creek for some ...

Wow--now that's a redfish! If you don't mind my asking, how long was the big one and what did you catch them both on?

C'mon Litt, You need to be paying closer attention! I put up the link to your post about Wakulla Beach several months back--on 5 April 2006, to be exact when we were all planning a trip there. If we're talking about the same post, here it is again-dates back to 3 November 2004 when you originally po...

Now there's an idea! Actually BlueDrifter, Bakertize, Charles, and Litt are all pretty knowledgeable about that area, as I recall.

I paddled out to one kayaker and he pulled in all three rods, anchor, and blew me off as I thought out a quick howdy. I had to forcefully say "I said Hello" to get an acknowledgement then he hauled tail. Hey j, Man, what is the matter with these people? The CPBs I can understand (sort of)...

I did manage to throw my anchor out without it being tied on though. Steve, I know you're not a big fan of gear leashes, but dontcha think that's carrying things a bit too far? :-D Sorry to hear that all the pre-game hype must have alerted "THE FISH" to be elsewhere on Saturday. Spies is ...

Hail the Fish(?)

OK--after all this hyper-hype by Ron about "THE FISH IS GOOD" and "ALL HAIL THE FISH", what happened? Did anyone show (fish included), weather abort or what?

Installing Reflective Tape for Night Fishing/Travel

Before our GAFFE II trip to Mosquito Lagoon, I stocked up on reflective tape for my Trailex trailer and both my Hobie Sport and Outback. This retro-reflective tape goes by the official name of SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea), even though it is now required on all big rigs by the DOT. It stands out esp...
